Time Spent with Grandparents
I remember the time when my uncle asked my granny in Ireland, ”Can we use a broken spade for a pencil?” and she said “No!” in a hilarious voice. *** I remember when I had a sleepover with my Nana on my birthday. That night she made me a special dessert that had custard, jelly and sprinkles. In the morning she helped me make a Lego castle. *** I remember the time when I went to my great grandmother's apartment in Hong Kong. She watched me as I danced and cart-wheeled around the room. She even understood English. She had short, grey hair and a tan baggy t-shirt. Her smile was very welcoming. *** I remember when I was five years old, I visited my Grandparents in Peru. They made me a cake and gave me a meat pie. We went to the Andes Mountains and climbed them. It was incredible. *** I remember the time when my brother and I were throwing Lego blocks at the TV and then my pop said, ‘Lunch’ so me and my brother went down to eat. Then my dad came in and said ‘Why is the TV not working?’Then me and my brother went to hide. *** I remember when I went to the theme park with Abouleta, Papito, Mum and Hannah, my sister. The place was like a city but for kids. My Abouleta has brown hair. We like to Skype. She has a husband, he has gray hair, He loves giving me bread to feed the birds. *** I remember the time when my Mama took me to a jockey club in Hong Kong. There was a huge playground! We first went to the sushi bar. The food was really good!:) While I was playing on the bouncing castles I met a friend called Jona. My mum said we weren’t allowed to have an ice-cream but Mama gave us one anyway. That is why Mama is the best! *** |
I remember the time when my Grandma gave me honeycomb from the tallest cupboard so I couldn’t get more. I also remember when my Grandma taught me how to grow tomatoes.
*** Every year, my grandma and grandpa give me ten dollars for every “A” I get. After I have money, they usually take me to the shops to buy something. I usually buy something electronic. *** When I was a baby my grandma, grandpa and big sister took me to different places in the world. I went to the Golden Gate Bridge before I was one year old. When I was one year old, I went to Cameroon and saw another one of my grandparents and saw 23 of my cousins. *** I remember the time my Nana showed me my Dad’s great grandfather’s book. We read some and looked at the pictures. I found out a lot about my grand pa-- like when he found a dead guy in war. *** I remember the time when, after I learnt to walk, Grandma always took me to the park every Saturday and played with me. She also taught me how to play a game on her Ipad. I remember the time when Granddad taught me how to use the tv remote by myself with no one home. I will never forget them. *** I remember the time you tried your party trick in Bali where you put three cups on a table with all the aunties, cousins and uncles watching. You put a piece of cardboard over it with three eggs covering it. You finally pulled the cardboard and all the eggs fell neatly into the cups *** I remember the times when you say “Who’s your favourite, Nanna or Poppa?”. “Nanna,” I reply. You always laughed. You would say “Well, no chocolate for you then”. Only Sam would have a chocolate for a while. I would get one in the end. I have also remembered the time when I bought a little sign about Nanna. Poppa thought it was funny to paint over the top of the word Nanna and write Poppa. He also painted the top of “from Molly” and wrote “from Sam”. One day we were all in our PJ’s and Nanna and I ran down stairs to the shed and found the sign. Nanna scraped it off and hid it so Poppa wouldn’t do that again. |
